Australian Aboriginals are the indigenous culture of the land down under. They have a very rich and deep cultural heritage, that stems back thousands and thousands of years. The phrases "Aboriginal Australians" and "Indigenous Australians" are often used quite broadly to describe one culture; yet in actual fact, Australian Aboriginal Culture encompasses a wide range of different communities and societies within Australia - for example, there are over 250 spoken languages across all the tribes in Aboriginal Culture.
The settlement of Australia by the British had numerous effects on Aborigines. Within weeks of the first settlement, many of the native populations began succumbing to illnesses they had never encountered in their history before. The white Australians eventually began to dominate the country, and the Aboriginals began facing new issues as history drew on: genocide, battles with settlers, alcoholism, racism, and the stolen generations.
Despite the hardships they faced, the strength of their cultural heritage lives on today. The stories of the Dreaming are still told amongst all Australians to this day. Aboriginal music is an essential part of their culture and is strongly pracised in the modern era also. Aboriginal Art also continues, consolidated by people from overseas having great interest in the amazing traditional art.
